11th-Oct-2010 11:24 pm - Candy buffet
So my Halloween Wedding is about 19 days away, and here I sit working on wedding stuff. I wanted a sign for the candy buffet table (it's all halloween candy) but I don't really know what to put. I want something Halloweeny (Not cheesy like "Love is sweet, so take a treat). I also wanted to put something on the bottom of our menus, but so far I've only come up with "Please visit our candy buffet for some special treats!" But I think it's lame. I'm open to suggestions!! Please anything is better than what I have!! :)

I would like to invite all of you to check out the Alternative Bridal Expo This event is brought to you by the same folks who brought you Wicked Faire , Steampunk World's Fair and Dracula's Ball

The Alternative Bridal Expo will feature the things you'd find at a wedding expo, but with a twist. Maybe several twists. Dresses, corsets, caterers, entertainers, flowers, invitations, halls, locations, videographers, bands, DJs, jewelers, stylists, honeymoons and anything else for a couple looking to plan a wedding that's a little different and entirely their own.

I am on staff for this event and would love to see you there!

**Also, if you are a business, crafter, etc and would like to VEND, spaces are still available! Please contact me for more information. Spots are going fast!**

Thank you for reading!

16th-Aug-2010 04:58 pm - Bulk Deals on Halloween Weddings
I just thought it would be pertinent to share that fantasytoyland.com and findcostume.com - which are run by the same company - do bulk specials. So if anyone is looking for a specific accessory or item and it's on either of these sites, you can actually get a deal below the listed value on the site. The focus for both is Halloween costumes, and compared to suggested retail prices, you can actually grab some pretty competitive values on the same stuff as the main brand names. You can go through customer service and  mention this post for a bulk discount, or you can get in touch with me for more info. I hope that's a relevant contribution and wish all of you the best planning your big day!  :)   ~ Joanna
15th-Aug-2010 11:16 am - Here comes Halloween!
dead kisses

I'm counting down to my Day of the Dead - Masquerade wedding reception. We're renting an amazing mansion that used to be a Masonic temple in the heart of Chicago.

Saint candles on high-top and cabaret tables, covered in black linens tied back with a red sash. Bar close to the dance floor, but cushy couches off to the side. Heavy passed apps - no silverware needed for any foodstuff.

Debating between setting out Trick or Treat bags by the front door before midnight, for guests to grab as they leave, or borrowing from pumpkinhead0's earlier post about folks Trick-or-Treating from table to table.

DIY efforts include a hand-painted mask each guest,  home-printed invitations and Sugar Skull place card holders.

Trying to work in a few of these darlings  ... possibly full of quills and wearing a mask - at the Guest Book table?

I expect to work a number of "covers" into the play list, including the Waston Twin's take on "Just Like Heaven."

So many possibilities!

I'm very interested in hearing from other 2010 Brides and Grooms to Be - what is going really well, and what are you having a time with?

By the way, I'll be wearing Dr. Seuss Chucks under my floor-length ivory gown. They go nicely with my tattoos.
